DON’YA Ukraine’s Kitchen is setting its sights on helping revive Edmonton’s downtown. At the grand reopening of Little DON’YA at its new location at 10405 Jasper Avenue NW on March 18, co-founder Janice Krissa spoke about the team’s deep European roots and their desire to bring that energy back to a quieter-than-usual downtown core: “That vibrancy is something we deeply value and something we want to help bring back to downtown Edmonton.”
It hasn’t been without its challenges — Saturday sales at the downtown location came in at just $71 for an entire day, a sobering reality that many downtown businesses are quietly facing. But DON’YA is leaning in anyway, rolling out a coffee bike to serve the newly revitalized Beaver Hills House Park and Michael Phair Park, bringing Ukrainian warmth to Edmonton’s public spaces one cup at a time.
