About the Initiative
DON'YA Celebrates Downtown is a multi-month community programming initiative designed to increase vibrancy, connection, and foot traffic in downtown public spaces from May 21 to September 30.
Through cultural celebrations, recreational activities, and community events, the project transforms parks and publicly accessible spaces into welcoming gathering places for workers, students, residents, and visitors.
Several members of the DON'YA team are newcomers from Ukraine and Europe, where vibrant downtowns, public gatherings, and cultural celebrations are a regular part of city life — and that spirit inspires everything we do here.
As a downtown small business, we care deeply about Edmonton's core. This program supports the City's broader downtown revitalization efforts by encouraging regular use of parks and public spaces while fostering culture, connection, and community pride.
