Not everyone lives close enough to our Edmonton cafés to pop in for a bowl of borshch on a Tuesday afternoon. That’s exactly why we started putting our food in grocery stores — so that no matter where you are in Alberta, you can bring a little DON’YA home with you.
Our frozen lineup is available at over 20 retail and restaurant partners across the province, and it’s growing all the time.
Every product in our frozen range starts in our Fort Road kitchen in Edmonton, made by hand by our team of Ukrainian newcomers using the same recipes and techniques we use in our cafés.
Varenyky (Perogies) — Our flagship product. Handmade dough, generous fillings, pinched by hand. We offer several varieties including classic potato and cheese, and our award-winning Brisket Perogy — named to The Tomato Top 100 in 2025.
Holubtsi (Cabbage Rolls) — Our Carpathian-style cabbage rolls, stuffed with seasoned rice and meat. Tomato Top 100 honoree.
Borshch — Our from-scratch Ukrainian beet soup, frozen at peak freshness. Warm it up on a cold evening and it tastes like it was made that morning — because it was. Tomato Top 100 2026 honouree!
Cooking frozen varenyky is easier than most people think. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, drop in the varenyky, and cook until they float to the surface — usually 5–7 minutes from frozen. Drain them, toss in a little butter, and top with sour cream and fried onions for the full experience.
For a crispier result, give them a quick pan-fry in butter after boiling — this is honestly our favourite way to eat them. The holubtsi and borshch heat beautifully on the stovetop or in the microwave.
